Shri Jagannath Utsav

Bhubaneswar wore a festive look with the celebration of Shri Jagannath Utsav, organized by Mr. Pitabas Rautray, GM (MS), PPL, at Jayadev Bhawan, Bhubaneswar on 12th September 2009.

In the first session, a painting exhibition on Lord Jagannath with creations of forty eminent painters of Orissa, with a book exhibition  on Lord Jagannath by renowned publishers, was inaugurated by Mr. Tarun Kanti Mishra, Chief Secretary of Orissa. In a meeting with the artists and publishers, the Chief Secretary expressed his satisfaction that such a programme was being organized for the first time in the state.

Mr. Satakadi Hota, Chief Editor, 'Samay' presided over the second session in the evening. Gajapati Maharaj of Puri, Shri Dibyasingh Dev inaugurated a website www.experiencelordjagannath.com at the beginning of the session. New editions of four Oriya books on Lord Jagannath edited by Mr. Rautray during the last 4 years, and a Bengali and Hindi translation each, were released by Gajapati Maharaj Shri Dibyasingh Dev, Mr. Satakadi Hota, Mr. S. S. Nandurdikar, MD, PPL, eminent writer Padmashri Srinivas Udgata and famous cardiologist Dr. Kabi Prasad Mishra.

Past Administrators of Puri Temple and publishers of Oriya, Hindi and Bengali language books were also honoured in the meeting.

A novel programme of song, dance and painting was presented, wherein famous painter Shri Baldev Maharatha painted on a canvas on the stage whilst singers and dancers simultaneously performed on stage.
''Yahi Kahoonga Unse'' Released

Mr. Sukhvinder Singh, Sr.Mgr (Mktg.) published his maiden book "Yahi Kahoonga Unse". The book was released by eminent Oriya poet Mr. Ramakant Rath at a glittering function in Hotel Crown on 20th September '09. The book of poems on different emotions of human life well reflects Mr. Singh's talent as a poet. Beside Mr. Rath, Mr. B. C. Gupta, Director, Doordarshan, eminent Hindi poet Prof. Shankarlal Purohit and Mr. Ashok Pandey graced the occasion. The function was well attended by literature lovers.
